WhatsApp revamps its original “About” feature to share what you are up to

 

WhatsApp is reintroducing its original About status feature — a simple way for users to post short updates about what they are doing. According to the company, About was actually WhatsApp’s very first feature, used before the app was even built around messaging.

 

What’s New About This Revamped “About” Status

This revamped About status is now more prominent, appearing at the top of one-on-one chats and on your profile, so it is easier for your contacts to see what you are up to. By default, About notes expire after one day, but you can choose to make them disappear faster or last longer, depending on your preference.

You decide who can view your About message, and WhatsApp lets you set the visibility to your contacts or restrict it further, giving you control over who knows what you are “up to”. In terms of the launch, the company said the feature is rolling out to everyone on mobile starting this week.
