After the lawsuit against the Japanese publishers, CloudFlare might land in more trouble. So, what should you know about it?

CloudFlare is not registered nor have any official rep in the country

For your information, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Komdigi) has warned that it will block all Cloudflare services in Indonesia. Cloudflare will be blocked because it is not yet registered in Indonesia and does not have an official representative in the country as required by the authorities.

Additionally, Komdigi said that Cloudflare is used by tens of thousands of gambling sites that are blocked. An official warning letter has been sent by Komdigi to Cloudflare, giving it 14 days to register and cooperate. Failure to do so will result in Cloudflare being blocked after that period.

Moreover, if the ban happens, many official and media sites in Indonesia will be affected, as 20% of the world’s websites rely on Cloudflare. The Private Sector Electronic System Operator (PSE) Permit requires all domestic and foreign digital and online service companies to be registered in Indonesia since 2022.

As a result, popular services such as PayPal, Reddit, Steam, and Epic Games were blocked for several weeks, angering users.
