Reportedly, Meta is in talks with Google and wants to spend billions of ringgit on using Google-produced chips in its data centres. Meta aims to use these Google chips starting in 2027. So, what should you know about it?

A way to put Google as a solid competitor for NVIDIA

For your information, this move simultaneously positions Google as a competitor to NVIDIA in the semiconductor arena while also suggesting that other AI companies may use Google chips.

Apart from using Google chips, Meta is also said to want to rent chips through Google Cloud as early as 2026. Google today uses TPUs for a variety of tasks involving artificial intelligence. Until now, Google has only used them in their data centres and offerings, but with this move, it appears that Google will also be able to separate them as another operating unit and generate revenue through them.

For now, Google and Meta have not issued any comments regarding this matter. However, if this matter is announced in the near future, it is expected to have a high impact on NVIDIA, which is ready to dominate the market.
