Tonight, Huawei has officially introduced the Mate X7 and Mate X7 Collector’s Edition, its latest premium foldable lineup packed with upgraded displays, powerful new Kirin hardware, enhanced XMAGE imaging and improved durability. Here’s everything you need to know.

Dual-Display Design and Durability

The Mate X7 series features an 8-inch flexible OLED inner screen and a 6.49-inch OLED outer display, both with LTPO 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rates, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and fast touch sampling. The outer screen on the base model uses the second-generation Kunlun Glass, while the Collector’s Edition upgrades to the second-generation Xuanwu toughened Kunlun Glass for even higher resistance to drops and scratches.

The inner screen delivers a 2416 × 2210 resolution, while the outer screen pushes 2444 × 1080 pixels, both supporting 10.7 billion colours and the P3 wide colour gamut. It’s worth mentioning that for added durability, the Mate X7 series is rated at IP58 and IP59 levels, offering improved protection against dust and water, which is an impressive feat for a foldable flagship.

Kirin 9030 Pro and HarmonyOS 6.0

Powering the new foldable is Huawei’s Kirin 9030 Pro processor paired with HarmonyOS 6.0. Storage options vary by model, with the standard Mate X7 offering 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage, while the premium Collector’s Edition bumps this up to 16GB RAM with up to 1TB storage—or an exclusive 20GB RAM + 1TB configuration bundled with the stylus set. Storage expansion via microSD card is not supported.

XMAGE Imaging With Triple 50MP Cameras

Both Mate X7 models feature a sophisticated triple-camera setup with Huawei’s XMAGE colour science and the second-generation Maple Original Colour sensor. The Collector’s Edition includes a 50MP ultra dynamic main camera with a 10-stop variable physical aperture (f/1.49–f/4.0), a 40MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP telephoto macro lens with OIS.

The standard Mate X7 also carries a 50MP main shooter with a similar 10-stop variable aperture system, supported by the same 40MP ultra-wide and 50MP telephoto macro lenses. Both devices support 3.5x optical zoom, up to 100x digital zoom, 8K-ready high-resolution photography, 4K video recording, AIS stabilisation and an extensive suite of pro shooting tools, including RAW capture, Log video, astro modes, macro video, dual-view options, cinematic filters and AI-powered enhancements.

Finally, a pair of 8MP cameras sit on the inner and outer displays for selfies, supporting 4K video, HDR Vivid, portrait enhancements and AI shooting features.

Battery and Fast Charging

The Mate X7 Collector’s Edition packs a 5600mAh battery, while the standard Mate X7 includes a slightly smaller 5525mAh unit. Both support 66W wired Huawei SuperCharge, along with 50W wireless fast charging and wireless reverse charging. Wired reverse charging up to 5W is also available.
