As confirmed last week, POCO officially launched the POCO X8 Pro series on 17 March 2026. Just earlier, the company released the POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max in Malaysia. Let’s take a look at what these midrange smartphones offer.
Tech specs
The POCO X8 Pro sports a Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. It has a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz PWM, and 3500 nits of peak brightness. In terms of cameras, the main camera is a 50MP Sony IMX882 image sensor. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide rear camera and a 20MP front camera. As for the battery, the POCO X8 Pro is equipped with a 6500mAh silicon-carbon battery.
On the other hand, the POCO X8 Pro Max offers a more powerful Dimensity 9500s chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and the same two storage options (256GB/512GB). It has a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED display and the same 50MP+8MP rear cameras and 20MP front camera. The biggest difference is that the 50MP main camera uses a Sony Light Fusion 600 image sensor instead. Lastly, the silicon-carbon battery is also larger at 8500mAh.
Features
Since the POCO X8 Pro series phones are meant for gaming, having gaming-centric features is a given. Both phones come with the WildBoost Optimisation feature, which can predict computing demand for every frame to prevent frame drops. This results in more stable frame rates and lower power consumption even under heavy-load gaming.
Thanks to LiquidCool Technology, these phones also won’t become too hot while you’re gaming. Both phones come with the POCO 3D IceLoop Cooling System for improved thermal efficiency. Specifically, the POCO X8 Pro Max has a 5800mm cooling system to reduce chipset temperature by up to 3°C. The POCO X8 Pro’s cooling system is smaller at 5300mm but uses Dual-layer, ensuring the same level of thermal efficiency.
