It’s official, OPPO has announced the upcoming global debut of its next-generation camera flagship, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra. Scheduled to launch on 21 April 2026, the device is being positioned as a major leap forward in smartphone photography, with OPPO claiming it represents one of the most significant breakthroughs in the history of its Find X series.

The Hasselblad Optical-Zoom Telephoto Lens

At the heart of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is a new telephoto system developed in collaboration with Hasselblad. The setup features a 50MP Ultra-Sensing Optical-Zoom Telephoto lens capable of delivering true 10x optical zoom, along with what OPPO describes as industry-first 20x optical-quality zoom.

To achieve this, OPPO has developed a new Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope Structure. The system works by bouncing light across five separate reflections within the camera module, effectively extending the optical path without increasing the physical size of the device. This allows the company to deliver true 10x zoom while reducing the module length by around 30%, maintaining a relatively slim smartphone design.

Complementing the hardware is OPPO’s Pristine Optical Path Architecture, designed to ensure cleaner and more accurate image data reaches the sensor. The system uses a multi-piece prism structure combined with a nanometer-scale diaphragm and a specialised air capsule, helping to minimise distortion and improve overall image quality, especially at higher zoom levels.

To address the challenge of stability at long focal lengths, OPPO has introduced a new Sensor Shift optical stabilisation system. This system offers a wider stabilisation range, helping to reduce handshake and ensure sharper images even when shooting at 10x zoom or beyond. The result is more consistent clarity across both photos and videos at extended zoom distances.

What to Expect at Launch

According to Pete Lau, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is designed to push the boundaries of what smartphone cameras can achieve, particularly in zoom photography. With its combination of advanced optics and computational imaging, the device is positioned not just as a flagship smartphone but as a serious alternative to dedicated camera systems.

The Find X9 Ultra will be officially unveiled at its global launch event on 21 April, where more details on its full specifications, features, and availability are expected. Until then, do stay tuned for our official news coverage at TechNave.com.
