You can finally change your old Gmail username

Recently, Google finally allowed Gmail account names to be changed, but only for users in the United States at first. That said, what should you know about it?

It is only available in the USA for now

For your information, the feature was first spotted on the Hindi support page in December last year. Users can choose a new name that is not already taken by someone else. Each account is also only allowed to change its name 3 times.

After the account name is changed, emails will be sent to the inbox of both the old and new accounts. Data stored in the old account, such as photos, messages, and emails sent to the old email address, will not be affected. Account login to Google services can be done using both the old and new account names.

This way, you no longer have to open a new Gmail account to use a name that you feel is more appropriate because you are now an adult and mature. It is also simpler because all subscriptions and services that used the old account name do not need to be registered again using the new account name.
