The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Series is now officially launched in Malaysia, with preorders happening today until 17 October. Specifically, the launch includes both the Xbox Ally X and non-X SKUs.
As a quick primer, the Xbox Ally X is powered by AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme SoC, has 24GB LPDDR5X-8000, 1TB PCIe 4.0 storage in the M.2 2280 form factor, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and massive 80Whr battery. This, however, translates into a hefty console, weighing in at 719g. On the outside, the handheld as one USB4 port, a USB-C 32.2 Gen2 port, one UHS-II microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack.

Over to the non-X Xbox Ally, the console is similar in shape and size, except that it is powered by the lesser Ryzen Z2 A processor; has 16GB LPDDR5X-6400; half the storage capacity; and dual USB-c 3.2 Gen2 ports instead of one USB4 power. Further, it’s even got a smaller 60Whr battery but on the plus side, it’s lighter than the X version at 670g.
Pricing for the ROG Xbox Ally Series starts at RM2,699 for the non-X model, while the Box Ally X retails for RM4,299, the same as the Ally X when it launched last year. To sweeten the pot, those who preorder either gaming handheld will also receive an ROG SLASH Sling Bag 4.0, a screen protector, one 512GB microSD card, and an additional 2-year Perfect Warranty as free gifts, and while stocks last.
Additionally, gamers who purchase the consoles will also be eligible for a 20% purchase with purchase (PWP) discount for an ROG Bulwark dock worth RM699, plus an ROG Gaming Charger plug worth RM299.
While we were able to play around with both Xbox Ally consoles, we’re unfortunately unable to discuss it at this point, as Microsoft, not ASUS, has issued a separate embargo that will only lift in a little more than a week from now.
