IKEA and Swedish colourist-designer Teklan have unveiled a new line of audio and lighting products that fuse high-quality sound with vivid, expressive design. The aim is to shift speakers from being hidden, purely functional gadgets to home décor pieces that contribute personality, warmth and visual joy even when not in use.

As IKEA puts it, home electronics should “contribute to a room’s atmosphere and personality not only through sound but also through form, colour and character.” The collaboration highlights how two- and three-dimensional design, rich colour palettes, and everyday technology can come together to transform the feel of a living space.

The New Products: SOLSKYDD Speakers, KULGLASS Lamp-Speakers and More

Leading the lineup is the release of the SOLSKYDD family of Bluetooth speakers, reimagined in Teklan’s distinctive prints and colourways. The collection includes three models: a small portable speaker in a bright patterned finish, a medium round speaker wrapped in green and earth-tone diagonal stripes, and a large, wall-mountable model with a textured orange-style finish.

The smaller speakers can stand on bases or hang, while the largest is ideal for wall mounting or pairing with a screen. All SOLSKYDD speakers support multi-speaker mode and can link with other IKEA Bluetooth speakers. They also come with Spotify Tap support, enabling instant playback directly from streaming apps.

Complementing the speakers are KULGLASS lamp-speakers — whimsical hybrids that combine lighting and audio. These table-lamp style units feature a swirl-shaped shade inspired by soft-serve ice cream, with bases housing built-in speakers. Available in distinctive colour variants, KULGLASS brings a cosy, characterful presence to a room, offering both ambience and sound in one package.

Beyond SOLSKYDD and KULGLASS, the launch also updates IKEA’s existing lighting catalogue, including a reimagined version of the classic FADO lamp in Teklan’s patterned glass finish — further extending the blend of colour, décor and utility.

When and Where — Launch Timeline and What to Expect

IKEA has slated a global rollout starting December 2025, with availability varying by region. According to recent retailer news and media coverage, U.S. availability is expected to begin on 1 January 2026. While detailed prices for all markets have not been confirmed, early reports from retail partners suggest the SOLSKYDD speakers and KULGLASS lamp-speakers aim for accessible price points.
