After its initial announcement in October, the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services have officially launched in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand today. Here’s everything you need to know about the local monthly fees and what you get out of them.

Membership Details for Malaysia

Kicking off with the individual memberships, Switch 1 and 2 users in Malaysia can now subscribe to a monthly, quarterly, or annual plan at RM13 per month, RM33 for three months, or RM89 per year, respectively.

There’s also the Switch Online + Expansion Pack individual membership at RM179 for 12 months. As for the Switch Online family membership, it costs RM169 for 12 months, whereas the Expansion Pack family plan is RM319 for 12 months as well. All prices already include tax.

Comparison with the US

Compared to the original US prices on the Switch Online plans, some of the local prices are slightly cheaper. For example, the monthly individual plan is $3.99 (~RM16), and we are only getting RM13 per month. However, our Switch Online family membership is higher than the US market by a few Malaysian Ringgit.

How are the Local eShop Prices in Malaysia?

According to this Reddit post, most of the Switch and third-party games are competitively priced in our region. Popular hits such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch 2 edition are priced at RM229 and RM259, respectively. Meanwhile, upcoming Switch 2 titles like Kirby AirRiders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond cost RM280 and RM259, respectively.

Remember To Switch Your Region

To start using the local Switch Online and eShop, remember to switch your region to Malaysia in your official Switch Account. After that, you will be prompted to re-login to your account when you open your Switch 1 or 2 console. The eShop is only accessible on your console, not through the Nintendo Malaysia website.
