WhatsApp is testing a multiple accounts login feature for iOS

According to WABetaInfo, several beta testers reported that the option to add and switch accounts is now available in the app’s settings menu. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, you will see a new section called “Account List” in the settings menu, or a dedicated button placed next to the QR code icon.

You can add up two accounts

Currently, beta users can add up to two accounts, either new accounts or companion accounts that already exist on other devices and can be linked via QR code scanning. Each account has its own settings and maintains its own chat history, backup settings, and notifications without any interference between accounts.

Additionally, WhatsApp ensures that backup schedules for each account do not overlap. Plus, the App Lock feature adds an extra layer of security by requiring Face ID, Touch ID, or a device password before allowing access to apps. When switching to an account that has App Lock enabled, WhatsApp will automatically ask for confirmation before completing the switch.

Availability for the beta feature

For now, the multiple account login feature is only available to a small number of iOS beta testers, but it is expected to be expanded to more users in future updates.

Moreover, you are also encouraged to keep WhatsApp updated, as it is possible that some users may get early access as part of experimental testing.
